Pre-Surgical Instructions:

 

  • No food after midnight the night before surgery. Water is okay.
  • Kittens and puppies under 4 months- No food after 6 am the morning of surgery.
  • One cat per carrier. Carrier must be designated for pets.
  • Cats must be dropped off in secure pet carriers lined with clean newspaper or pee pads and labeled with the animal’s name and owner’s last name.
  • If you do not have another carrier we will provide you with a cardboard one for a charge of $12.50
  • All animals must have proof of current rabies vaccination if not they will receive one for $35.
  • All dogs over 6 months of age must have proof of a current heartworm test or they will be tested for $40.
  • Make sure your pet is flea & tick free. An extra charge may be applied for flea treatment if necessary (at medical staff’s discretion).
  • Walk dogs before entering the building and make sure they relieve themselves.
  • A $25 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is required to hold your pet’s surgery spot, payment is submitted during the appointment request & will be applied to the cost of surgery the day of.
  • Clinic appointments are not confirmed until you have been contacted by a staff member or until you receive confirmation notifications
  • Will provide prevention, vaccination and dewormer if necessary, Pain medications and cone is required and included.

Cats: Fasted, 1 cat per carrier, Current rabies vaccine, Flea & Tick free

Dogs: Fasted, Rabies vaccine & Negative Heartworm test, Walk dogs before entering

Pre-Surgical lab work required after 3 years of age. Age Limit 6yo.

Before Surgery:

 

  • Monitor Food and Water Intake
  • Purchase inflatable collar or recovery suit if you don’t want a plastic e-collar
  • Set up Quiet and comfortable area for your pet to recover when they return home
  • Make a plan for getting your pet in and out of your vehicle

After Surgery:

 

  • Monitor for decreased eating or vomiting
  • Avoid any sudden diet changes or new foods for a few weeks after surgery
  • Please finish any medication prescribed in its entirety unless advised otherwise
  • Please call if you have any concerns over side effects from their medication or if you think they are experiencing pain despite medication
  • Please call and email a picture if your pets incision isn’t healing well or if you are having trouble restricting their activity.
